Community spirit and participation
will be the impetus for the success of Milton Watch. Milton Watch will
involve the entire community, citizens, businesses & law enforcement;
“the community looking out for the community”. It is getting to know each
other and becoming familiar with your neighbours’ habits and vehicles so
that you will know when something is suspicious or out of the ordinary.
Upon recognition of a suspicious
activity, Milton Watch participants are asked to report it by phoning the
local police station. All callers will be treated anonymously.
Many people don’t want to
bother the police because they are afraid that it may not be a real emergency
or that they may be embarrassed if their suspicions turn out to be unfounded.
The police would much rather be called out to investigate a reported suspicion
than to be called after a crime has been committed and the perpetrators
have fled.
